Christine Poe, Owner, Founder, Creator and Producer of Patty Cakes Puppetry

combines her love of writing, singing and entertaining children to create a memorable experience for the entire family! Born in Georgetown, Ontario, Christine performed at an early age. Featured in George Kennedy Public School's May Music Night she sang Oliver's "Where Is Love?" By Grade 4 she was a published writer, having entered a short poetry contest for young authors across Ontario. At Centennial Middle School, Christine & her friend Julie Lamb created "The Sossy and Sassy Hour", a delightful musical skit featuring a very worn out sock puppet named Sassy, and a tiger named Sossy who loved to lipsync to Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog"! In High School Christine moved on to musical theatre where she portrayed "Diana Barry" in Anne of Green Gables. Her favorite role was "Gertie" in Georgetown Globe Production's Oklahoma. Continuing her love of singing Christine sang "I Dreamed A Dream" for a local Karaoke contest. She was content with her "2nd Runner Up" status. Christine's true passion is writing, especially stories for children. By 2002 "Soul Mates", "Dreamland Delight" (a child's bedtime story) and "A Glimpse of Angels" were published in a collection of poetry available to libraries and various bookstores in the U.S. and Canada under her maiden name, Christine Frances Gorin. Her very first official puppet show was performed in 1993 at Sonco Steel Tube's Company Picnic. The original show was entitled "Molly and Me". Patty Cakes Puppetry made its first debut in 2003. Christine is thrilled to have discovered Katie many years later at a local dance camp, where out of 60 or more children she lit up the stage! Christine is also excited to have her son Bryce join the family business!  With a succession of shows behind him, he's well on his way to taking over the biz one day!

"It's so important to have an assistant out front who is professional in every way, who has lots of energy, and a genuine love of children.  I feel truly blessed to have Katie & Bryce on my team!" Christine

Katie

Katie Calverley, Puppet Assistant

is 16 years old and in Grade 11. Katie is no stranger to the theatre arts and dance world. She competes in both group and solo acts. At the dance studio she attends, Katie assists with musical theatre for young children. Her love of tap, jazz, ballet, acrobatics, and musical theatre is evident, for she lights up on stage, and that's where we discovered her! We're thrilled to have Katie join the Patty Cake's team! Although she still can't master the "ARRRRR!" in Patty's Pirate Show, she makes the best darn swashbuckler in all of the Seven Seas! Aye! Aye! Capt'n! We've found a treasure in Katie! Where does Katie get all her energy from? Chocolate Moulton Lava Cakes and Ice Cream, and not necessarily in that order!!! Katie enjoys entertaining, especially with Patty and friends!

"I love Patty Cakes Puppetry, because no two shows are ever alike! Patty Cakes helps me stretch my imagination!" Katie

Bryce Poe, Puppet Assistant

is 11 years old and no stranger to the puppetry business.  From the age of 2, Bryce was key in helping judge all newly written Patty Cakes Puppetry scripts!  If Bryce loved it, we knew we had a hit!  Bryce is a student of the Armstrong Acting Studio (Toronto).  With many years of performing experience behind him (Great Big Theatre Company and Stars Academy) we consider ourselves very fortunate to have him join the Patty team!

"Interacting with the children is the most fun, especially when I have an opportunity to perform out front with the puppets!" Bryce

Brett Poe, Stage Manager / Sound Man

"There's nothing like the rush of adrenaline I feel just prior to a show. There is so much involved that the eyes do not see! Patty Cakes Puppetry is challenging, rewarding, and a must see for children of all ages! I'm so proud of my wife, creator of Patty Cakes Puppetry!" Brett
